Secure instant messaging is the ideal candidate for replacing WhatsApp. Heres everything you need to know to start using Telegram.
Have you made the decision to abandon WhatsApp in favor of a safer alternative? If you find the change difficult, especially when youve been using the same messaging app every day for years, switching to Telegram shouldnt affect you too much.
The secure instant messaging application, Telegram, offers about the same functionality, with a fairly similar organization. Heres everything you need to know to start using Telegram security messages.
2. Register on the Telegram
Launch the app on your mobile device, skip the presentation screens, and enable notifications. Telegram will ask you to enter the phone number, which will act as an identifier to connect to the application.
Once this step is completed, you should receive an SMS validation code to enter the Telegram and validate your registration.
The app will then ask you to enter your -PIN- or -Person ID-, a PIN code designed to secure access to certain elements of the app.

3. Send a message
When you get to the main page, Telegram should let you know if any contacts in your address book have already installed the app.
To send a message, all you have to do is tap the pencil icon, then select a contact from the list of contacts detected as Telegram users. You can also choose to create a new group if you want to create a group conversation.

4. Explore the tools of a conversation
As with WhatsApp, the app defaults to check marks when your correspondents receive your messages, but also when they read them. We also find on Telegram a series of features similar to what exists on WhatsApp.
You will be able to reply to a specific message by dragging the balloon of a message to the center of the screen, which will have the effect of quoting it in the reply field. You can also display emoji reactions to sent or received messages.

In addition, when you select a message in a conversation, a toolbar is displayed above the keyboard to allow you to view detailed information (the date and time of sending and receiving, for example), delete a message, copy it to the clipboard , read the message in reply, forward it, and finally make a multiple selection of messages in a conversation to delete.
Otherwise, the user will only have to deal with the known ones, as it will be possible to share photos, videos and other files with his correspondents, to illustrate the conversation using stickers or GIFs, send voice messages or initiate a call audio or video from a conversation.
5. Customize a conversations preferences
To personalize a conversation's preferences, simply tap the conversation name in a group conversation or the recipient's name in a two-person chat.
You'll access your chat options and explore all the media you've exchanged with your correspondent, search for the conversation, enable ephemeral messages, manage notifications, and more.

Some Telegram settings will need to be customized to suit your preferences. To do this, select settings from the main application page.
You will be able to change the appearance of the application, you can choose to use an open theme or a dark theme, but especially to manage privacy settings, especially disabling read receipts or the input indicator that shows your correspondent when entering text.
