1. Uninstall LibreOfficeYou need to uninstall LibreOffice first, because you cannot install openOffice on Linux.
$ sudo apt-get remove --purge libreoffice*
$ sudo apt clean
$ sudo apt-get autoremove
2. Install Java on Ubuntu | DebianIt is important to check if Java is installed on your system. You can check by running the command:
$ java -version
If Java is not installed on the operating system, then you can install it by running the command:
$ sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install default-jdk
4. Install the Desktop integration package
Finally you need to install the desktop package, which is located in the desktop-integration folder, and follow the command from the terminal.
$ sudo dpkg -i *.deb
Now you are done with the installation part and it is time to start using Apache OpenOffice. Search for OpenOffice in Show Applications and launch it.
